THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal practice is focused on family law. She has a passion for it. She concentrates a large portion of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, the distribution of marital property child custody battles, child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues, step-parent and private party adoptions, as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as trusts, wills and probate and estate administration along with commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year 2019. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private cases as well as court-appointed mediation for those who want to avoid litigation and court processes.

After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. When she graduated in 2013, she excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This demonstrated her commitment to scholarship and research in the field of law.

Ashley began her clerkship career after she completed her law degree. She worked for distinguished jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the privilege of being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to work as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. Her primary focus at the firm involved representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at parent or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice went beyond her legal practice since she was actively an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force and worked tirelessly to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tristate area.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law including divorce child support, custody and guardianships as well in estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a a commitment to providing a personalized approach to every client's needs.
