THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's current legal practice revolves around various aspects of family law. She focuses a majority of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes, the distribution of marital property, child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues, step-parent and private party adoptions, as well as issues involving children's welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including trusts, wills, probate and estate administration along with commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has served a court-appointed mediator since 2019 helping parties to help them resolve their matters without need for litigation and court involvement. Ashley mediates private cases as well as court-appointed mediation for those who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to work as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main focus was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Ashley's dedicated efforts played a significant role in helping children who were victims of abuse or negligence at the hands their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice went beyond the realm of law and she was active as an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force and worked tirelessly to educate the public about human trafficking in the tristate area.

In 2017 she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and began her practice in family law – custody, divorce guardianships, child maintenance and divorce and estate and financial planning – wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with the goal of providing a personalized approach to every client's needs.
